"What is a Yacht Club Support System?" Yacht clubs are businesses. They are not typically for-profit operations, but are organized around the promotion and support of sailing - a beautiful, thrilling, and even poetic tradition, rich with it's own rewards. Nonetheless yacht clubs are businesses and so come with a certain amount of administrative overhead. Most clubs are small, volunteer-based organizations, and while there are software packages out there which help with some of the issues clubs face, they are generally too expensive and too complicated for the average club. myYC's mission is to simplify and centralize a range of yacht club specific support functions at a price every club can afford, helping sailors spend less time on administration and more time on the water. While myYC focuses on yacht club support, it can also easily be used by independent regattas, classes, boats, and even individual sailors to host sailing related sites and support sailing related activities, and myYC has proven that it can support even the needs of large clubs and events. myYC has hosted local regattas, North American Championships, and World Championships. Beyond regatta hosting, myYC supports general club operations with features like Forms Automation which makes it easier for members to fill out club forms and significantly reduces administrative overhead in collecting and managing form submissions year-over-year. The 2010 Hospice Regattas National Championship was a clear example of what myYC can do. This was the second year the Rochester Yacht Club ran this regatta on myYC and it took organizers just 30 minutes to update the event site. This left them free to focus on other things, which they did expertly. Based on the great job they did, RYC won the 2010 St. Petersburg Trophy for excellence in race management (see Testimonials). myYC offers free sites (including simple membership management, newsletters and email groups, private document sharing, and more), premium sites (including forms automation, financial transaction processing and reporting, online store support, and much more), and will soon offer an innovative Android app.  |
